After reading and watching the Scottish Play adaptations, I decided that I liked the rhyming version of the play the best. The Scottish Play Travesties made the play easier to understand because it was put into a vocabulary that people are more used to, and it made the play a lot more comical. uMbatha was alright, but I thought it was kind of boring and it was just like the original, besides the fact that it was about some African tribe instead. It was also annoying to have to go back to the first page to figure out which character was which everytime you read a name in the script. Throne of Blood was good, I liked how they made changes in the plot of the story so not everything was expected. I liked how the ending was unexpected, and the fact that they changed characters around and cut MacDuff. I didn’t like their weird names though, or how creepy the witch/thing was.
Overall, I liked the Scottish Play Travesties the best. It was easier to understand, so more people could be able to read it and get a sense of what the Scottish Play was about, whereas if they were younger, they wouldn’t really be able to understand the Shakespeare version very well. It was also funny so more people would get into it and want to read more of it. My least favorite was uMabatha. It was just really boring and hard to get through, and it was confusing with all the different character names.

Kristen- I also enjoyed the Travesties because it was put into modern language which made the whole play more understandable. It was a weird twist on The Scottish Play having it in modern day language considering it is supposed to be from so long. The modern language makes the whole play seem less dramatic and more of a joke. However, in the original Scottish Play it is very dramatic and taken extremely seriously. I agree with Kristen that uMbatha was boring and it followed pretty much the original plot line with very little changes. I think Throne of Blood was the most different from the original book and I agree that the ending was very unexpected which made the whole play more interesting. Overall, I agree with Kristens opinions on the three adaptations of the Scottish Play.
